Namrup College proudly celebrated the 79th Independence Day in its playground with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. Independence Day stands as a symbol of the freedom to live, think, work, and uphold harmony among all citizens of India. Observed every year on the 15th of August, this day pays tribute to the martyrs of our nation and showcases India’s rich culture, traditions, and advancements.
In keeping with the spirit of the occasion, Namrup College marked the day with a vibrant blend of sports and cultural activities. The programme began at 7:30 a.m. with the hoisting of the National Flag at the Jubilee Mondap by Dr. Durga Prasad Gogoi, Principal of Namrup College. The ceremony was attended by faculty members, office staff, and students, all united in their patriotic pride.
This was followed by an inspiring address by Dr. D. P. Gogoi, highlighting the significance of Independence Day and the responsibilities of every citizen in building a better nation. Subsequently, Dr. Utpal Tamuly, Vice-Principal and Mr. Kalyan Gogoi, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science, delivered a thought-provoking speech that emphasized democratic values, unity, and the role of youth in shaping the future.
After a light refreshment at 8:00 a.m., a friendly volleyball competition was organized, symbolizing joy, unity, and the spirit of togetherness among the college staff and faculty members.
The event was successfully organized through the joint efforts of the NSS, NCC, and INC units of Namrup College, reflecting the institution’s commitment to instilling patriotism, teamwork, and community spirit among its members.
