Death Anniversary Observance of Kolaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha at Namrup College

The Department of Assamese, Namrup College solemnly observed the death anniversary of Kolaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, a legendary figure in Assamese culture, on June 20, 2025. The commemorative event was held on the college campus, drawing students, faculty, and special guests together in a heartfelt tribute.

The programme was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Durga Prasad Gogoi, who highlighted the immense contributions of Bishnu Prasad Rabha to Assamese literature, music, and society. In his address, Dr. Gogoi encouraged students to draw inspiration from Rabha’s life and works, emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting indigenous culture.

A special highlight of the event was the performance by invited guest Mr. Ramesh Das, who captivated the audience with a soulful rendition of Bishnu Prasad Rabha’s songs. His performance set a reverent tone for the rest of the programme.

Several students also took part in the observance, performing Bishnu Rabha’s songs and presenting group dances inspired by his compositions. Their enthusiastic participation reflected the deep respect and admiration the younger generation holds for the cultural icon.
