Namrup College Organises Condolence Function for Ahmedabad Plane Crash Victims

Yesterday, a tragic Air India plane crash occurred in Ahmedabad, shaking the entire nation. The Air India Flight AI171, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner carrying 242 passengers and crew, crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport while en route to London Gatwick Airport. The aircraft crashed into the BJ Medical College campus, specifically hitting the hostel complex where many intern and resident doctors were residing. The impact caused a massive explosion and fire, resulting in numerous casualties, including many medical students and doctors. Rescue operations were launched immediately, but the disaster claimed over 200 lives, with some survivors reported. The incident has been described as one of India's worst aviation disasters, deeply affecting the local community and the nation as a whole.

In response to this heartbreaking tragedy, Namrup College organised a condolence function in the morning assembly ground to pay tribute to the victims and express solidarity with their families. The function began with a moment of silence observed by all students and faculty members to honor those who lost their lives in the crash. The college principal addressed the gathering, expressing profound sorrow and extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He emphasized the importance of unity and support during such difficult times.

Students and staff participated actively participated in the function and prayers for the victims and their families. The college also highlighted the bravery and dedication of the medical students and doctors who were among the victims, acknowledging their contributions to society.
