In a significant initiative to nurture mathematical talent among school students, the Department of Mathematics, Namrup College, in association with the Assam Academy of Mathematics and the Department of Mathematics, Sonari College, organized a one-day intensive training program on 29th June 2025 for the upcoming Assam Mathematics Olympiad. The event was held at Namrup College and saw enthusiastic participation from 60 students spanning classes V to VIII, grouped into two competitive categories.
The training program commenced with a comprehensive introduction to the Assam Mathematics Olympiad, where speakers emphasized the competition’s structure, importance, and the manifold benefits it offers to young, aspiring mathematicians. The session aimed to demystify the Olympiad and motivate students to pursue excellence in mathematical problem-solving.
Subject experts Ms. Khusboo Agarwal, Assistant Professor at Namrup College, and Dr. Kaushik Dehingia, Assistant Professor at Sonari College, led the technical sessions. They guided students through a series of challenging mathematical equations and innovative problem-solving techniques, equipping them with the tools necessary to excel in competitive mathematics.
Participants reported high levels of satisfaction with the program, noting that the interactive sessions boosted their confidence and deepened their understanding of mathematical concepts. Many expressed that the training provided them with new perspectives and strategies, enhancing their readiness for the Olympiad.
The organizers expressed hope that such initiatives would continue to inspire and empower students from the region, fostering a strong foundation in mathematics and preparing them for future academic challenges.
